Re: [pen] 2 way radio?

So my hopes of getting a black/gray market radio off the interweb for hijinx are crushed? I guess its not the same as picking up a Japan version Alinco.

I thought I noticed some Russian or Chinese stuff on E-Bay a while back that would transmit on just about any band? Also wasn't there a place on the web where people posted old and custom modified HAM stuff for sale? I want to think it was hosted in South Africa or something because of all the weird sounding names....

Now I know there are some shortwave and HAM guys on the list so because I am going to be asking questions about stuff that may or may not be legal.... please comment off list so you don't get in trouble by the FCC.

I was at a department store parking lot today watching 6 cops hassle a kid for making out with his girlfriend in his car. I was pissed and wanted to let them know but seeing as how that gets you beaten with a baton these days, I thought a voice on their radio telling them what dicks they where for hassling a kid would be enough.
Now I know of a bunch of "Gray" market radio places on the web, most located in China who sell radios that will transmit on any frequency you want.

My question is, are cops still using analog? Or have most departments gone to digital?

Thoughts? Warnings? Recommendations?
