It's for use primarily in a SFH for protection from zombies, investment bank CEOs, etc, but I can see myself wanting to go to the range a few times a month and it perhaps becoming a hobby. Budget is not an issue but I don't need the Bentley of pistols. I don't plan on carrying it a lot of places so it doesn't really need to be hidden in my clothes. -k ________________________________ From: Illustrious niteshad [mailto:niteshad@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tue 10/28/2008 8:29 PM To: pen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [pen] Guns On Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 8:55 PM, Karl Mozurkewich <karl@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: So I'm getting my CPL this weekend and am looking for something to get me started in this hobby, as well as for home protection when the zombies come. Any suggestions for a pistol newbie? There's no one right pistol. Guns are like vehicles, there are different makes and models to suit different tastes, budgets and needs. Figure out what your needs are and then buy the pistol that best suits those needs. You mention home protection, do you live in a house, condo or apartment. If you live in a multi-unit building with thinner walls, overpenetration becomes a much bigger issue than if you live in a well-built brick house in a rural area. Will the pistol be used primarily for home protection (i.e. stored in a bedside drawer safe most of the time) and carried only infrequently, or do you plan to carry it on a daily basis? Do you plan to alter your style and/or mode of dress in order to carry the pistol? Finally, what is your budget for the pistol, extra magazines, concealed holster, etc.? Let's start by answering these questions, then we'll discuss makes and models. -niteshad- -- This message has been checked and is believed to be clean.
